
Mohammad Humayun Kabir

Mohammad Humayun Kabir is a distinguished academic and education professional with extensive experience in English language education, academic leadership, teaching, teacher training, and institutional administration. He currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of English at Bangladesh University and as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Social Science & Law. With several decades of experience in higher education and public-sector academic institutions, he has contributed significantly to English language teaching, academic development, and teacher training in Bangladesh.
Academic Experience
Mohammad Humayun Kabir has been serving as Professor and Head of the Department of English at Bangladesh University since 2024, while also undertaking the responsibilities of Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Science & Law. Prior to joining Bangladesh University, he served as a Professor in the Department of English under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Bangladesh, from 2022 to 2024, and as Professor and Head of the Department of English at Netrakona Government College from 2020 to 2022.
From 2010 to 2020, he served as an Associate Professor of English at several government institutions, including Netrakona Government College, Gafargaon Government College, Ananda Mohan College, Government Bhawal Badre Alam College, and Government Zaheda Shafir Women’s College. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant Professor at Manumunisa Government Women’s College from 2001 to 2010 and as a Lecturer in the 14th BCS Education Cadre at Mathbaria Government College and Bangladesh Military Academy from 1997 to 2001. He also served as a Lecturer at Ananda Mohan College and Faujdarhat Cadet College from 1990 to 1993.
Professional Practice
Alongside his regular academic appointments, Mohammad Humayun Kabir has undertaken several adjunct teaching, academic coordination, and professional training roles. He has served as an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of English at Jatio Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensingh. He has also worked as an ELT Course Coordinator and Resource Person at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital and as a Resource Person at HSTTI and Teachers Training Colleges in Mymensingh. These engagements reflect his continued contribution to English language teaching, professional development, and capacity building among educators.
