Omar Sharif is a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Bangladesh University. He holds an M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), currently in progress, along with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in EEE from BUET and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. His professional background combines academic teaching with experience in telecommunications, technology operations, project coordination, and finance.

Academic Experience

Omar Sharif has been serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of EEE at Bangladesh University since July 2024, following his service as a Lecturer in the same department from December 2018 to June 2024. In these academic roles, he has been involved in university-level teaching and departmental academic activities within the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Earlier in his academic career, he served as an ICT and Finance Lecturer (Part-Time) at Western School and College from June 2018 to December 2018. His combined academic and professional experience provides an interdisciplinary perspective connecting engineering education with technology and business-related practices.

Professional Practice

Omar Sharif has professional experience in technology, telecommunications, network operations, and project coordination. He served as Project Coordinator in the Technology Department of Taurus International Ltd. from April 2017 to April 2018. He also worked as Core Network Senior Manager in the Technical Operation Department of Banglatel Ltd. (IGW) and Jibondhara (ICX), and as an Operations Specialist Engineer in the NSS Operation & Maintenance division of Banglalink Digital Communication Ltd. His industry experience complements his academic work and contributes to his practical understanding of engineering and technology operations.

He has also contributed to research in the field of biomedical engineering and computational methods. He co-authored the paper titled “Improved Diffuse Optical Tomography (DOT) via Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) Using Single-Wavelength Data,” presented at the 13th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2024. The paper was published in the conference proceedings, pages 515–520.
