Experience

Rita Saha is an economist and academic with extensive experience in economics education, university teaching, and academic development. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Jahangirnagar University, with her research focusing on employment structure in the Bangladesh economy and its implications for skill requirements, with special emphasis on the service sector. She holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics and a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Economics from Jahangirnagar University. Her strong academic foundation and extensive teaching experience enable her to contribute meaningfully to economics education and student development.

Academic Experience

Rita Saha has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Bangladesh University since 30 July 2024. Prior to her current position, she served as a Senior Lecturer from 1 July 2015 to 29 July 2024 and as a Lecturer from 28 October 2011 to 30 June 2015 in the same department.

Through more than a decade of academic experience, she has been actively involved in university-level teaching, student mentoring, academic activities, and the development of students’ analytical understanding of economics. Her ongoing doctoral research further complements her teaching and academic engagement, particularly in the areas of employment, labor markets, skills development, and the evolving structure of Bangladesh’s service sector.

Professional Practice

Rita Saha also served as a Research Assistant in the project titled “Preparation of Self-Assessment Report for the Department of Economics, Bangladesh University”, funded by IQAC-BU under the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). The project was conducted at Bangladesh University, Adabor, Mohammadpur, Dhaka-1205, from 1 December 2016 to 1 December 2017. Through this role, she contributed to the academic quality assessment and institutional self-assessment process of the Department of Economics.
