Experience

Dr. Gazi Md. Abu Issa Nur is a Professor of Management and an accomplished academic, researcher, and academic leader with more than 18 years of experience in university teaching, research, academic administration, professional training, consultancy, and research supervision. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Business Administration at Bangladesh University and is also the Head of the Department of Business Administration. He holds a Post-Doctorate in Human Resource Management from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia, a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Management) from Islamic University, Kushtia, and an MBA and BBA in Management from Rajshahi University. His academic background is further complemented by a Diploma in Human Resource Management, an LL.B., and a B.S.S.. His academic and professional expertise encompasses Human Resource Management, Green HRM, organizational behavior, sustainability, entrepreneurship, strategic management, e-commerce, supply chain management, and broader areas of business and management.

Academic Experience

Dr. Gazi joined Bangladesh University as a Professor in the Department of Business Administration on 1 July 2026. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Head of the Department of Business Administration, contributing to academic leadership, departmental development, curriculum advancement, student mentoring, and institutional growth. His teaching portfolio includes Principles of Management, Business Communication, Organizational Behaviour, Operations Management, Project Management, Strategic Management, Management Thought, Strategic Human Resource Management, and E-Commerce/Business.

Prior to joining Bangladesh University, Dr. Gazi served as an Associate Professor at Jiujiang University, China, from September 2019 to August 2024. Earlier, he held academic positions including Assistant Professor at the University of Scholars, Assistant Professor at International Islamic University Chittagong, Senior Lecturer at People’s University of Bangladesh, and Lecturer at National College of Education. He has also served as a part-time and adjunct faculty member at several universities in Bangladesh. Across these appointments, he has taught a broad range of management, business, economics, human resource management, and organizational behavior courses.

Professional Practice

Dr. Gazi’s professional engagement extends beyond university teaching and research to include consultancy, professional training, research supervision, academic mentoring, and scholarly collaboration. His extensive experience in management and human resource management has enabled him to contribute to professional and academic development in both national and international contexts. His work combines theoretical knowledge with practical perspectives in organizational management, human resource development, sustainability, and contemporary business practices.

Professional Development

Dr. Gazi has undertaken extensive professional development through international certificate courses, research training, seminars, conferences, academic workshops, and scholarly activities. His professional development includes research methodology and manuscript preparation programs offered by the Elsevier Research Academy, along with specialized courses in human resource management, entrepreneurship, leadership, research and publication ethics, academic writing, reference management, and scholarly publishing.

Academic Leadership & Administration

Throughout his career, Dr. Gazi has undertaken a wide range of academic leadership and administrative responsibilities. His previous roles include MBA Program Coordinator, Convener of the Equivalence Committee, Member of the Purchase Committee, Department Coordinator, and Convener of Examination Committees. During his tenure at Jiujiang University, China, he served as a member of the Discipline Committee, Course Curriculum Committee, and Pandemic Prevention Committee. He has also served as a member of the Ph.D. Supervisory Panel at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Uzbekistan, contributing to doctoral research supervision and academic quality assurance.

Editorial & Scholarly Service

Dr. Gazi is actively engaged in international scholarly publishing, academic peer review, and editorial service. He serves as an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Public Health, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the University Research Institute (JURI), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Management and Accounting, and Section Editor of the Bangladesh Journal of Multidisciplinary Scientific Research.

He has also served as an editorial board member and reviewer for a range of international journals, including the Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of European Business & Management, Sustainability, Young Consumers, Open Economics, PLOS ONE, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and other scholarly publications. He has also served as a Member of the Advisory Committee of the International Conference on Business Innovation and Sustainable Development (ICBISD 2026).

Research

Research Work

Dr. Gazi’s doctoral research specialized in Human Resource Management, with his Ph.D. research focusing on job satisfaction and job stress among workers in Bangladesh’s sugar industry. His postdoctoral research further explored the job behavior of sugar industrial workers with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. As an active researcher, he has published more than 124 scholarly publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and books. He has also successfully supervised more than 50 research-based Master’s theses and continues to supervise Ph.D. and Master’s students at both national and international universities.

His primary research interests include Human Resource Management, Green HRM, employee job satisfaction and job stress, Green CSR, sustainability, international trade, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, organizational behavior, and broader areas of business, economics, and management. His research focuses on addressing contemporary organizational and socio-economic challenges while contributing to the advancement of knowledge through impactful academic research and scholarly publications.

Dr. Gazi has extensive experience in Ph.D. research supervision, thesis evaluation, academic mentoring, and research collaboration. His research-related academic involvement includes serving on doctoral evaluation committees, supervising and co-supervising postgraduate researchers, and contributing to doctoral research quality assurance at national and international institutions.

  • Served as a Member of the Ph.D. Thesis Evaluation Committee under the Department of Management, Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh, representing the foreign university category.
  • Served as a former enlisted member of the Ph.D. Supervisor Panel at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and contributed as a co-supervisor of Ph.D. students.
