Experience

Dr. Umma Kulsum Suma is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics at Bangladesh University. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Jahangirnagar University, completed in 2025, along with an M.S. and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from the same university. With more than 16 years of academic experience at Bangladesh University, she has progressed through the positions of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor, while serving in departmental leadership roles.

Academic Experience

Dr. Umma Kulsum Suma has been serving in the Department of Mathematics at Bangladesh University since July 2010. She currently serves as an Associate Professor, a position she has held since July 2024. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor from October 2016 to July 2024, Senior Lecturer from June 2013 to September 2016, and Lecturer from July 2010 to June 2013. She has also held departmental leadership responsibilities for many years, serving as Head (In-Charge) from November 2016 to February 2017 and as Head of the Department of Mathematics since February 2017.

Academic Leadership

As Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Suma provides academic and administrative leadership for the department and contributes to the effective coordination of teaching and learning activities. Her long-standing service at Bangladesh University reflects her commitment to academic development, departmental coordination, and student-focused higher education.

Computational Fluid Dynamics, Operation Research, Numerical Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Wavelet Transform.
