Message from President
Bangladesh University (BU) virtually is a non-profit, non-political private university established and managed by a dedicated Board of Trustees pioneering in computer- based modern education. It has been accredited by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and its curricula and academic programs have been approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The President of Bangladesh is the Chancellor of Bangladesh University. It was established under the Private University Act, 1992 and approved by the Government of Bangladesh for awarding degrees in pursuing modern scientific applied knowledge through research and creative activities with the objectives of producing world class professionals responsive to the national and international modern requirements.
In October, 2001, it sailed its journey with 12 students in one department with a vision to develop and nurture talent with modern knowledge to meet the national needs in global perspective. Development of human resource is one of the main objectives of the university. To carry out the vision and objectives the founder got a group of dedicated souls. They, with a missionary zeal, brought about a revolution and turned the dream of the founder in to reality. So, basic characteristics of BU are different from those of other private universities. Generally, it is observed that private universities are established in our country for financial gain, but Bangladesh University has been established through a process of the tireless efforts of a group of devoted hearts aiming at quality higher education specially keeping it within the reach of middle class and low income group of people in our country.
Various kinds of services are made available in BU. Students are provided guidance and counseling service from 9.a.m to 8 p.m for proper selection of courses and completion of the program in the best possible manner. BU operates a placement cell for the benefit of the passing out students in searching jobs with the prospective employers. The placement cell arranges interviews and contacts with the prospective employers in best possible way. It maintains records of students and these records are made available to the prospective employers.
The management is committed to provide the students with modern knowledge to make them innovative with the objectives of producing world class professionals to the national and international requirement for employment, research and management. Consequently they will be able to face the challenges of 21st Century in a befitting manner. With a view to establishing a Centre for Educational Excellence, we solicit the whole hearted co-operation particularly from students, guardians, teachers and employees. We are confident, with a long experience in educational management and administration; we will be able to make our endeavor a success in making our university globally known as one of the best universities in Bangladesh.
